From the tragic sinking of the Titanic on April 15, 1912, to the fiery inception of the Revolutionary War in America on April 19, 1775, this month holds a repository of events that have shaped societies across the globe. April also marks the inaugural steps of American democracy, as George Washington took the oath of office as the nation's first president on April 30, 1789.
